TREE!

"Tree" caught my attention to paint, then I found the shadows beyond infinitly more interesting.
When I began to rack out I suddenly realised how terribly wrong was the composition!
Dear GOD, could I have measured this to be any more dead center?!

A smart thing would have been to just leave it out! But then I couldn't have quit disgusted with it after only two hours, nor titled it TREE! :)!

WILDABEAST WALTZ!

A few months back, working out a dance sequence (like I actually know anything about this??!) for a cave full of Wildabeast's.

Fortunatly I was provided lots of great dance clips to study. One of the better ones
- A Christoper Walken dance sequence for a music video done a few years back...
Just priceless !

..Why anyone hasn't made a "Danceing killer"/"Moulin Rouge" type movie part/project for him after that is beyond me. He's the Fred Astair of serial killers, a dropped ball by Hollywood for sure.

BROKEN GLASS

Black ground excercise. It was tough not painting more stuff/things/forms in light or even going back into the figure to really pull it together more. But thought it was more than descriptive enough as is. Stop. GO wash the brush and get back to something else.....

ROCK!

Rock! Quick lay-in, Nothing really high keyed enough to be called painterly. Another 30 minutes was needed to be sure, at least.

Still, something about the rugged immediacy of the work/image/sketch really seemed to capture the spirit -better I feel than maybe a belabored use of paint.

It'll require another sitting for sure one day:)!

HIP HOP HORRORS!!

Something out of the sketchbook I always had a warm spot for.
Character designs for a group of maruading puppets/toys/ventriliquist dummies that have a street sensability to them. I guess this would be especially horrific if mid-westerners were involved. I suppose the scenerio for this gang is something akin to Chucky meets Dr. Dre and the streets of LA run red. A nice guy director gave me some napkin doodles to work from for this/his project. I guess it's really just me doing clean-up on them, but still had a lot of fun pulling it all together (imagining voices/attitudes/and of course screaming scenes they would be involved in:)
Hip Hop soundtrack while everyone's getting whacked up like yesterdays meatloaf with extra ketchup. Fun stuff - Fool!!
