SUNSETTING

..A mad rush to a secret cove just in time to catch the last 15-20 minutes of any possible light.
The crisp cold blowing along the waters edge was in complete contrast to the warm orange (burning) sky. The scan lost this and seems to have brought all of the warm tones closer together, not a terrible thing mind you. I thought to play with the adjustment in Photoshop, but what the hell, it looks fine, and who's going to know any...., uh oh.

The one cool trick here was that I quickly wiped the panel with a bit of linseed oil before the paint even hit the pallette. No drag mon, smooth and easy.

A VERY ANGRY FENCE

After a day of typicaly frutrateing mud making at a plien air painting class with Frank LaLumia (this guy rocks) I came home demoralized and beaten up, returning to the bell one last time in my front yard. No knock out, but I at least went down swinging like a well intentioned hobbiest.
The sun was setting and the refleted light off of this house and the ambiant glow from the white-chimmney made an interesting back drop to a very shadowy garden.
My big regret was trying to chase the bright green leaves in the forground bush even after the color/sun dropped and it became an even better composition/window.

PUPA PRINCESS

Sketch book drawing of a character for a Theme park attraction/show in Asia. This is an early idea/concept of the Princess before she ultimatley becomes the sexy butterfly. Still in that "hanging from the garage cool yukky phase" .

...Old sketch, but I always liked it, came across trying to find another idea I'm working on. Sometimes seeing the old stuff isn't always quite as painful as it used to be. Maybe that's a good thing?

COCO

A few months old. Oil sketch of the ever faithful canine. My cat Sunny stops to chat with her in frame one. Sadly thier conversation was much to quick to really catch.
One day the taxidermist will fix this for me.
